Human Rights Commission on a direct visit to Iranaitheevu to find out problems encountered by people who have settled there
A group of Human rights Commission branches of Jaffna and Kilinochchi, led by the Regional Commissioner of Kilinochchi and Jaffna, Kanagaraj had visited Iranaitheevu, coming under Kilinochchi District, traveling by boat from Iranaimatha Nagar to find out about the problems encountered by Tamil People who had settled there.
The people who had settled there, expressed their complaints in front of the HR Commission Officials.
Particularly,that,
- Although 1 year has passed after their settlement, they have not been settled properly yet.
- Samoorthy and other relief payments are not made to them.
- Even to receive small amounts they had to travel 14 miles by sea and receive them at Iranaimatha Nagar.
They also requested that action be taken to make them available with Transport and Medical Services.
The group had visited houses, schools, churches and commenting on their visit, the commissioner said that, action is to be taken on the problems of Iranaitheevu people. Relevant Department will be called for their explanations and action will be taken on their explanation. He also said that a Mobile Service of all state services will be arranged within this year for the people of Iranaitheevu. The HR commission will take all actions regarding the settlement at Iranaitheevu.
