Mawai Kanthan’s assets worth Rs.15 Billion  destroyed. Rare ola scrolls and medical data hidden

The Secretary of the Temple Work Society , E.Perinpanayagam expressed concern that more the 15 billion worth  of assets of Maviddapuram Kanthasamy Kovil has been destroyed in war during 1995 and it is learnt that valuable and rare Ola manuscripts and Medical information had been hidden some where.

It is accepted that this Temple is an ancient temple dating back to 3 century BC  and was the only Temple in Sri Lanka to possess 5 chariots in the pre-1990s. It  also possessed 84’ Saparam, All Silver Flag post worth Rs.400 Million, very rare Ali Ola manuscripts and several  Epigraphs.

Maharajashree Shnmuganatha Kurukkal and we searched for these rare collection, but we could not find them. He died in the sorrow of being not able to find them.

In One of his articles, Prof. Pathmanathanhad noted that , Rev. Fr. Thaninayagam was amazed by the collection of manuscripts, Flags, umbrellas and alavaddams of Mawai Kanthan.
