Action taken to construct a Vihare in the Vavuniya District Secretariat premises
It is learnt that action has been taken to construct a Buddhist Vihare in the Premises of the District Secretariat of Vavuniya.
Tamil people are living in Majority in the Vavuniya District. In a context where planned Sinhala colonisations are occurring in several areas, a Buddhist Vihare is to be constructed within the premises of the Vavuniya District Secretariat.
The ground work for this is being undertaken led by the District Secretary newly appointed to Vavuniya, Somaratne Vithane and it is expected that the foundation laying ceremony will be held on March 15th.
It is notable that, the UNP announced in it LG Election Manifesto that , allocations will be made for 1,000 vihares in the North.
