Action taken to create a Muslim Alliance by Hasan Ali and Basheer Segu Dawood
M.T. Hasan Ali, a trusted lieutenant of Late leader of SLMC, M.H.M. Ashrof and Basheer Segu Dawood a former chairman of that party laboring hard to create a Muslim Alliance in the lines of Tamil National Alliance (TNA).
A VIP of the intended alliance said the alliance is being formed with an expectation that it will make impact on the struggle of the Muslim people to win over their rights, similar to the impact made by the TNA in the struggle of the Tamil people to win their rights.
On this basis, discussions are being undertaken in the East and Colombo with Muslim parties and Civil Society Organizations.
Thus, a discussion was held by M.T. Hasan Ali and Basheer Segu Dawood with National Congress Leader A.L.M. Athaullah at Akkaraipaatu on Saturday and a consensus was reached with him in creating a Muslim Alliance under a Leadership Board.
Analysts continue to say that formation of a Muslim Alliance is the only solution to curb the political decline of the Muslims. In the context of Athaullah pledging his support for the Alliance, All Sri Lanka People Congress, led by Minister Rishad badi-ud-deen also has send favourable signals for it.
Next meeting will be in Trincomalee with All Sri Lanka People Congress, and the Civil Society people decided to get into the arena in favour of the Alliance, said a Senior AAL of the Alliance.
Further a person in an important post in EP, is also gearing up to join the Alliance. After the election is announced members of important parties are also getting ready to back the Alliance, he said.
