Activities ahead to Establish “Mayapura” Sinhala Colony in Nayaru Village, by Mahweli Dev. Board

The Mahaweli Development Board is gearing up to establish Mayapura Sinhala Colony next to the boarders of Nayaru village, said NPC Member T.Raviharan.

Mahaweli Board directly comes under the President Maithripala Sirisena, who always say that the reconciliation should be build up among the races to develop the country and to establish permanent peace

Activities are undertaken at Neeraviyadi Ettam in Nayaru, which is a coastal village around 25 Km. from Mullaitheevu town, to set up the colony. The colony is to centre on the Tourist inn planned to be constructed by the Mahaweli Board in this confluence area. This area which is selected for the  establishment of the Tourist inn and the colony was allocated for Kadju cultivation, said Raviharan.

The people who were living in this area were displaced during the war, and when these people resettled the Forest Department officials did not release this land for people.

It is this land that Mahavali Board is planning to establish the Sinhala Colony and the Tourist Inn , said Raviharan.
