Affected people demonstrate against the granting of time to Sri Lanka, in Jaffna

A protest struggle was undertaken by the affected people yesterday in front of the Jaffna Central Bus stand from 10.30 a.m., insisting that No time should be granted to Sri Lanka by UNHRC and it resolution should be sent to the UN with recommendation to take Sri Lanka to International Court. This attention drawing demonstration was held in front of the Jaffna Central Bus Stand.

A copy the memorandum including the demands of the Affected People had been sent to the UNHCR. The above demonstration was held putting forward demands including, ‘we want International investigation’.

Some slogans on their placards included the following:

• Hand over  peoples and public lands under control of the Forces to the people!
• Eliminate Militarization!
• Stop harassing Journalists and Civil Rights Activists
• Release TPPs!
• No time granting beyond resolution 30/1!
• We the affected people want International investigation!
• Form International Mechanism
