Allow us to go to our own Lands, Valli North residents go on a fasting rally yesterday

The residents of Valli North went on a fasting rally yesterday demanding they be settled in their own lands before the forthcoming New Year. They had bowed that if they are not resettled before the Coming New Year, they will enter their lands on their own.

This fasting protest was undertaken in Sapapathy Camp and Kannaki Camp from 9.00 a.m. putting forward demands like ” Don’t develop Palaly into International Airport” ,  ” Resettle us before the coming New Year”,  ” Provide livelihoods to Transit Camp inmates.”

They also said that, although the president had said resettlement will be completed before June this year, we have lost faith in him because of the statement of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, to the effect that people’ lands will betaken over for the Airport and that the development of Airport will be carried despite oppositions.

We find it vry difficult to find livelihood. we have been subjected to displaced life for more than 26 years. The President should mercy on us and allow us to go to our own lands, they said.
