Another acquisition attempt of Army for Church land in Santhankulam & lands at other areas
Army had taken action to acquire 4 perches land of Santhankulam church for its use. The surveying is to be carried out today as a precursor to the taking over. In this context the president of the Vali-North Resettlement group, S.Sajeevan had called upon the public of the area, church authorities and politicians to rally at the spot to prevent this surveying attempt.
Although several such attempts to survey lands for acquiring them for Army earlier were abandoned following opposition of the public, they had been started again now. It is notable that although the government is repeatedly saying the in its good governance, no land of the people will be grabbed and people will be protected, these attempts are given new momentum.
Another such surveying is to be carried out at Thiruvadinilai in Valli South on the 10th of this month, where it is announced that 11 acre land will be surveyed. This had been intimated to th District Secretary and other concerned people by the Department of Surveys.
Concerned people have called upon the people and the politicians to rally at such spots and prevent the surveying attempts as earlier.
