Another Confession thrown out in Claymore attack case by Justice Illancheliyan

Justice Illancheliyan yesterday rejected the only evidence submitted ,a confession in a Claymore attack case. In this case Rathinam poopalapillai alias Poopal Mama was charged with making a claymore attack on a an army patrol at Navalady, Point Pedro on 1.1.2007 and killing an army soldier, Dissanayake.

ASP, Jagath Fonseka testified that he recorded the confession;he do not know Tamil and Accused did not know Sinhala; The accused testified that he had never seen this ASP and that he was living in Vanni in 2007 and the he do not have any connection with the submitted confession.

Thereafter the Judged rejected the confession and ordered the Prosecution to inform the whether they want to continue the case or not in the next date.  Miss.Suganthy Kanthasamy appeared for Prosecution and Attorney at Law, Sri Kantha appeared for the accused.
