Archaeological Department undertakes research near Uruthirapuram Sivan Kovil

The area within the Kilinochchi / Uruthirapuram Sivan Kovil belonging to Chola era was declared as heredity site few years back and taken under the control of the Department.

If any Buddhist historical remains are found here during the research of the Archaeological Department, action will be taken to construct a new Vihare at the site, some sources said.
