Ariyali Shooting, President requested to expedite inquiries
The relatives of the youth shot dead at ariyalai have placed an important request to the President Maithripala Sirisena, that an independent investigation on the killing of the youth and expedite the investigation.
A 24 years aged youth from Manianthottam, Jaffna, who was pillion riding with his friend on a motor cycle was shot dead by two unidentified persons, in the general area of 1st Cross Street, Uthayapuram, Ariyalai, Jaffna on last 22nd .
The police made inquiries in the Pannai STF camp and Mandaitheevu Navy Camp. On the basis of the inquiries police had found the Three wheeler used by the assailants parked in the STF camp at Pannai.
However when the police was nearing the assailants, the inquiries were stopped by the Colombo Police Head Quarters and the inquiries have now been handed over to the CID.
It is in this context that the relatives had made their request. They also expressed strong concern about nobody has not been arrested although 8 days had passed after the killing.
