Army claims Katchilaimadhu Sivan Kovil area to be inhabited by ancient Sinhalese
Army had erected a Notice board saying Buddhists lived in the area of Katchilaimadhu Sivan Kovil and surrounding areas and that Buddhist worships were held in this area. They are in the process of capturing private lands and erecting large Buddha statues in them.
In Mannakandal the army had occupied Fertilizer store and lands of the fertilizer store and had erected a Buddha statue there. All Army camps in Odduchuddan have Buddha statues erected inside them.
This trend should be stopped and people here fear that they will make this a Sinhalese area said the Administrator of the Sivan Temple, Kanthaiah Sivarasa. Our forefather lived around the Temple , which is also called as Sivalinga Kovilady. Surrounding areas also belong the Temple. We are in possession of the deeds for these areas and all details are clearly stated in them, he said.
