Army Commander lays foundation stone for unauthorised Stupa on confiscated private land
An event to construct a new Stupa on a private land in Valikamam North Thaiyiddy village was carried out by the Sri Lanka’s Army Commander General Shavendra Silva today.
There has long been a Buddhist temple called Tissa Vihara in Thaiyiddy Thaiyiddy. However, Sri Lanka’s Army Commander General Shavendra Silva on January 30, laid the foundation stone for cobstructing a 100 feet Stupa.
When the Valikamam North Divisional Secretariat Coordinating Committee meeting was held yesterday, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Parliamentarian and Coordinating Committee Chairman Angajan Ramanathan refused to allow the Tamil National People Front and the Tamil National Alliance’s request to ban the construction of illegal Viharai.
