Army! Get out of the North …Protest march from Vavuniya to Jaffna by Northern Youth
Youth from all Districts of North undertook a protest from Vavuniya to Jaffna demanding the Army to get out from the North.
This protest was first undertaken in front the army occupied Cultural hall in KudiyiruppuVavuniya. From there it went through Omanthai, Thiruvaiyaru, Paravipanchchan Iyakkachchi, Chavachcheri and through Jaffna to kankesanthurai.
They travelled in buses, got down in front of all army Camps on-rout demanding the Army to get out from state and private Lands and to remove the food stalls of the Army.
Hundres of boys and girls participated in this march , and the Slogans shouted included,
” Release all lands occupied by the Army”
” Democracy in South…. Army in the North.”
” Why army camps in front of schools?”
“We want our land”
The Army had established Agricultural farms, cattle farms, commercial centres, Hotels and restaurants in lands which were the very centre of our livelihood. A full stop had been put to our Economy. Our lands should be handed over to us, said the protesters. This protest was organized by the Youth for Democracy Organization.
