Army have ‘captured’ public well and doing agriculture at Murukandy

The people of Murugandy accused that the Army have occupied the public well in Murukandy and using it for agriculture. They also said that they had fixed several pipes and excessively drawing water with Heavy duty pumps.

Murukandy come sunder Mullaitheevu District. Army had constructed several camps in Mullaitheevu. These camps are located inside jungles No outsider can go into these lands. They have acquired lot of lands and pumping water from this well. They have fenced off the well. This well will never go dry. We undertook cultivation with the help of this well.

Now the uniformed people have occupied the well as well as our lands. They are not releasing well.  We are undergoing severe difficulties to move our day to day life, said a farmer who was doing agriculture in this area earlier.
