Army living near -Resettlers distressed

Some of the families which were resettled in Valli North were going away from there, as  the Army is living near and renovating their camp.

Because of this several areas which were released for resettlement in found to be empty without people, said the area people. Yesterday also one family had left their land and staying in an alternate place, they said. This situation is prevailing in Keerimalai, Oddakapulam and some other places. Although Vayavilan had been announced by the Government  as released, the Army is constructing a permanent camp at Oddkapulam.

The army is constructing permanent barbed wire fences and massive gate posts, with  the intention of grabbing 169  lands of 105 families, on which the camp is located Vasavilan area which was within the HSZ for last 26 years was release in 2015 March. But the Oddakappulam area is fully under the control of the Army.

The Army is asking why we need more areas, if people are not settling in areas already released, the District Secretary had already said.

But the people say that they are undergoing several untold distresses, due to the increased presence of the Army.
