Attention drawing Protest demanding release of TPPs by Jaffna University Community

An attention drawing protest was held by the University Community demanding the release of all TPPs and support of the 3 TPPs who have undertaken a fast unto death.

In this demonstration which was held in front of the Jaffna University, several people including Professors, University students and employees participated in this demonstration.

“During the past 30 years of abnormal situations, several people were arrested detained for several years for political reasons, under PTA and Emergency Laws in contravention of the constitution  and natural norms. They must be released immediately” insisted the demonstrators.

Good Governance Government which came to power giving several promises in 2015, had not fulfilled any of them. The representatives of Tamil People also gave several promises during Election period, regarding the release of Tamil Political Prisoners. They also did not fulfil their promises.

“We the University Community demand that the Sri Lanka Government should accede to the justifiable demands of the TPPs who had gone into fast unto death and request the Government and the Political Representatives of Tamil people that, due action should be taken regarding all Tamil Political Prisoners.” they insisted.
