Autonomy system will never materialize in Sri Lanka: Government Spokesperson

Government Spokesperson Dr Rajitha Senaratna today said that the government will go along the path of finding solution to the ethnic problem within the unitary system, and there will be no space for autonomy.

He stated this  when asked by a journalist during a media conference in Colombo what is the response of the government on the statement made by the  TNA leader R. Sampanthan that If the UNP forms the government it would table a justifiable political solution based on autonomy in the traditional homeland of Tamils.

“we discussed with all the parties and made clear our position to find solution to the ethnic problem within the unitary system. There is no space for autonomy. Anyone can say anything for election. But, autonomy system will never materialize in Sri Lanka” said  Senaratna.
