Baseless allegations against the Adviser of the Chief Minister: Tamil Canadian Civil Society Forum

The Tamil Canadian Civil Society Forum (TCCSF Canada) has said that there is no truth in the allegations that the 50,000 Canadian dollars given to Nimalan Karthikeyan, the Strategic Adviser to the Chief Minister, of the Northern Provincial Council, C. V. Wigneswaran, when he was on his visit to Canada to sign in the twin city agreement few months ago, has been misappropriated.

Issuing a media release yesterday, Wednesday, quoting a report of Accounts on the fund collection during the visit of the CM to Canada, for the Chief Minister’s aid project, sent to the Media on last May 16th, the TCCSF has said that the collected money is still in their custody and that it will be sent once the activities for sending it is duly completed.

Published below are the statement put out by the TCCSF, the Media release issued to Media on May 16th, and the Statement of Accounts.

Along with it, we have sent to the media our Media release of May 16th, 2017.

False news have been published in the media and websites for the past few days, regarding the money collected for Chief Minister’s Fund, during the visit of the Northern Provincial Council, C.V.Wigneswaran.

It is our duty to place the real position regarding this news in the context we were associated with several people engaged in organizing the Chief Minister’s visit, and on the basis of the citing of the name of the TCCSF in this news.

A Statement of Accounts on the fund collection during the visit of the CM to Canada, for the Chief Minister’s aid project, and our media release were sent to the media on last May 16th.   In this statement of Accounts, the amount in hand and amount to be received had been clearly stated. This money has not been handed over yet to anybody. As agreed earlier, we have not dispatched this money so far, as there were some changes to be effected in the Chief Minister’s Fund in accordance with the Canadian Laws and in the administrative procedures for good governance. Once these things are ensured, this money will be dispatched immediately to the Chief Minister’s Fund.

We have annexed again the Statement of Accounts and our Media release with this.

The CM’s Secretariat also has published their statement regarding these news. We request all media to place these truthful details before the people.
