Birthday Celebrations of Mahathma Gandhi held in Jaffna and Kilinochchi
The Birth Day Celebrations of Mahathma Gandhi were conducted at the Mahathma Gandhi statue on Hospital Road was conducted by the Indian Consulate in Jaffna under the aegis of All Ceylon Gandhi Seva Sangam at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
In this event presided by the Indian Consul Sankar Balachchandran, several people including the MP, E.Saravanabavan, NPC Minister of Education, K.Sarvesvaran, Leader of the House, C.V.K.Sivagnanam , members, P.Kajatheeban, E.Jeyasekaram, Mayor Arnold and the public participated.
The 150th Birthday celebrations were held at thee Gandhi statue in Mulaitheevu yesterday under the aegis of the Indian Consulate in Jaffna, at 9.30 a.m., a Higher Official of the consulate, S.Niranjan, Vice Chairman of Karaithuraipattu PS, Raveenthran and several participated, garlanded the statue, offered floral tributes and paid their homage. 100 aged people were presented with clothes in view of the Gandhi Celebrations.
