Challenges encountered by Iranaitheevu people – Attention drawing demonstration held

An attention drawing demonstration was held in Poonakary, requesting to provided solutions to the challenges encountered by the People of Iranaitheevu and a memorandum containing the problems was handed over to the Divisional Secretary.

The Attention drawing struggle held under the aegis of National  Fishermen Cooperation Movement proceeded up to the Poonaklary Divisional Secretariat through Jaffna – Mannar road and the memorandum was handed over to the Divisional Secretary, S.Krishnendran.

Commenting on their struggle the people said that the Navy is not permitting transport of cement to Iranaitheevu, preventing women from going to Iranaitheevu and using the light posts erected in Iranaitheevu for their security.

Eliminate this situation and allow us to freely commute to Iranaitheevu, the people have requested.
