Chief Minister Wigneswaran’s London public meeting with a full house
More than 1,000 Tamil people filled up London’s Harrow venue, where the Northern Provincial Council Chief Minister, C.V.Wigneswaran, who is on a visit to London to sign a twin City agreement between Kingston and Jaffna. The Zoroastrian Centre, where the meeting was held was packed to capacity with its upper and lower galleries overflowing with the public.
As yesterday happened to the 77th Birth Day of the Chief Minister, an event honouring him was also held with poems being read out in praise of him. Dances were also performed welcoming the Chief Minister.
The central theme of the long address he delivered in the meeting is the insistence by him regarding the necessity of unity among the global Tamil People. “Wherever may be the Tamil speaking nation live, they should come forward to raise their voice for their brethren. Let’s remove enmity among us and work towards global unity among us.”, he requested.
The Chief Minister answered the questions of the people, after his address. It is notable that this meeting was held under the aegis of all Tamil organizations operating in the UK.
VIPs of several organizations operating in Britain, including the Tamil National Alliance, participated in this event. It is notable that this meeting has been held with the support of Organizations of Tamil people living in Britain.
Earlier, on last Friday, the Chief Minister hale a meeting with the British Tamil Investors and Industrialists. In this event organized by the British Tamil Chamber of Commerce, more than 100 investors participated and expressed their interests to pursue projects. Several other pledged to help in various ways.
The Chief Minister’s Strategical Adviser Nimalan Karthikeyan and his private Secretary Kanthaiah Rajathurai also participated in these meetings.
