Conflict in seat distribution – PLOT’s Siththarthan walks out from Jaffna and Kilinochchi Meetings

The Leader of the PLOT, Tharmalingam Siththarthan has walked from the meeting of the TNA’s constituent parties for distribution of seats for the Jaffna Municipal Council, saying that injustice has been meted out to PLOT.

This meeting was held at the ITAK office in Martyn Road, Jaffna. From 7 p.m. yesterday. Prior agreements among the constituent parties stipulated 60 % To ITAK and 20% each to TELO and PLOT.

However , in the recent meeting held yesterday only 2 Wards were allocated to PLOT and 3 wards that should have been allocated to PLOT were given to TELO, which made PLOT Leader to walk out from the meeting.

Same thing had happened in Kilinochchi where MP, Sritharan towed a hard line of taking all three PS for ITAK and refusing to give the accepted 20% seats to the other parties. The PLOT Leader had walked out of the meeting in protest, it is learnt.
