Court Order Torn to pieces & Excitement at the Unemployed Graduates Struggle in front of Eastern Provincial Council
While the sitting of the Eastern Provincial Council was in progress, Eastern unemployed graduates held struggle blocking the Road and shouting loudly.
An order of the Trincomalee court judge M.H.M.Hamsa requesting them to hold the protest peacefully and without causing discomfort to others was handed over to the protesters and commotion prevailed when one of the protesters, Ven. Thenne Gnnanantha Thero, tore it into pieces and trampled on it.
Following this riot squad and other policemen were massed at the spot. More than 4,500 unemployed graduates from the East are holding protest on roadsides demanding employment. It is notable that, as another stage of these struggles, unemployed graduates from the three districts of the Eastern Province converged on the Provincial Council located at Trincomalee and held their protest while the proceedings of the council was in progress.
