Dam to prevent sea erosion in Mandatheevu

Activities have been undertaken to construction of a dam along the cost Mandaitheevu, to prevent sea erosion. Under the arrangement of Coastal Protection Department dam of granite stones is being put into place to prevent sea erosion. All these day in the absence of a stone dam, the coast line was subjected to sea erosion .Because of this coastal areas were submerged in sea water and there was a danger of sea water entering adjacent lands.

The Fisheries and aqua resources Department said that so as to prevent this work had been started to stack granite stones along the coastal line of Mandaitheevu area.
