Disaster Management Centre announces 1,270,673 persons affected in the whole country
North and North western Provinces are most hit by the prevailing prolonged drought with 919,834 persons belonging to 268,376 families being affected by the drought, said the data released by the Disaster Management Centre.
As per the report put out by the Disaster Management centre 1,270,673 persons belonging to 369,354 families from 20 districts have been affected by the Drought.
7 districts in the North and North Western Provinces were drastically affected the report said. Worst affected is the Kurunagalle District with Puttalam District in the second place followed closely by Jaffna District, said the Centre.
