Families of disappeared staged peaceful demonstration requesting the Pope to help them

Relatives of disappeared persons held a protest in Vavuniya yesterday requesting the visiting Pope Francis to help them to get  information about their loved ones and justice for the genocide committed during the final war. The protest had been organised by Vavuniya district Citizens Committee.

People who attended the protest are to meet Pope Francis at Madu today. They are to seek the Pope to push the authorities to take measures to find their dear ones who are missing.

 Pope Francis who is on a Mercy Mission is scheduled to meet the sick, the poor, the victims of the war, the displaced etc after the prayers and the mass during his presence at the Madu Shrine.
