Former TNA MP, Appathurai Vinayagamoorthy on his way to meet his creator
Former TNA MP and a senior politician of the All Ceylon Tamil Congress and a Human Rights Enthusiast, Attorney at Law Appathurai Vinayagamoorthy, expired on his 84th year in Colombo yesterday.
He had died while being treated for his ailment in a Private Hospital in Colombo.
Commencing his political voyage with the former leader of the ACTC , Late G.G. Ponnampalam, he aligned with late Kumar Ponnampalam for his political career. Announcing publicly that he accepts fully, the political doctrine of the Liberation Tigers, he acted in full commitment towards Tamil Nationalism.
After the Assassination of Kumar Ponnampalam he took over the reins of the ACTC and played an important role in the formation of the TNA and elected as its Vice President.
He remained the MP for Jaffna District. Completing his legal studies at the University of Colombo, he joined the struggle of Kumar Ponnampalam for the release Tamil Political Prisoners. Working hard even in his old age, he had died on his 84th year yesterday.
Laid at the Colombo Jayaratne Florist’s Hall for people to pay their homage from 10a.m, and his funeral rites will be held at his home at Kokkuvil tomorrow, Tuesday and taken for cremation at around 2.00 p.m. tomorrow to Kokkuvil Hindu crematorium.
