‘From Pottuvil to Polikandi’ rally reaches Kilinochchi with a large crowd
The rally against the government’s repression ‘From Pottuvil to Polikandi’ left Vavuniya today for the 4th day and proceeded to Mannar via Poovarasankulam and Chettikulam, Mallavi and from there reached Kilinochchi this afternoon.
Today’s rally was attended by a large number of Muslims.
Prayers were held at the Madhu Church in Mannar. The rally proceeded from Mannar to Thunukkai and from there has now reached Mallavi. The rally will start from Kilinochi and reach Jaffna tomorrow. Thousands of people are expected to join tomorrow’s rally.
While the rally was going from Trincomalee to Mullaitivu yesterday, some disturbing activities took place.
Nails were put on road by untruly elements to disturb the Rally and three vehicles were damaged. It is notable that the nails were found in an area between Army posts. The front wind screen and other glasses of the vehicle of former NPC member M.K.Sivajilingam were smashed up by mobs. Police recorded the numbers of Motor Cycles participating in the Rally.
Jaffna, Mallakam and Chavakachcheri courts threw away application for ban on the rally, while Point Pedro court proclaimed a ban to enter Point Pedro.
