Gang rape-Murder of A/L student: Shock waves reverberating through the boiling North

Students, parents and people all over North flooded the roads in protest of the atrocity, in pouring rain. “Condemn to death” was seems to be the call all over the North. Shops were closed in mourning and in protest in the Islands sector.

Thousands of students bid a tearful farewell to their fallen comrade. Several wept  openly.

The Principal of the dead student said in his funeral oration, that, the vultures who gang-raped his student are not fit to live in the society. Will the parents allow their children to attend school after this , he queried.

TNA MP, Mawai said in his speech,said that, a situation where the Tamil Educational Community can operate with freedom should be created and these vicious villains should be dealt with, appropriately.

TNA MP, S.Siritharan said, ‘For how many years this is continuing? we must put a full stop to these savage acts.”

The Leader of the House, NPC, C.V.K.Sivagnanam said that, the politicians and the society people should get together to stop these incidents.

An Education official said that, It is not enough for the politicians to condemn in words. Solid action is needed.

A.Kajatheeban,Member NPC, said that, If the police cannot take action, let them get out; the youngsters will take necessary action.

Mrs Ananthy Sasitharan, member NPC, said that, some attorneys –at –law normally clamour to appear in cases like this. What will they do if it had happened to their wives or daughters?

In a protest meeting held at the Jaffna University, The University Teachers Union called the Judicial authorities to condemn the gangster to death.

The President of the University Teachers Association, A.Rasakumaran said that, strict action should be taken against the accused. If no action is taken by the Police, we will be forced to look at them with same suspicion we were looking at them for the last 30 or more years. The violence against the women are on the increase. we will do whatever possible to stop them.

Dean of the Arts Faculty, V.P.Sivanathan said, women should struggle for justice. then only justice will be delivered.Globalization had bred a generation without the sense of responsibility.
