Government mull on Land grabbing, UN’s reply will give hope : CM
We have informed the Government several times but the government is not taking any action, but keeping silence. Now we have made the UNHRC Commissioner aware of the details and we hope that he will give a good reply, said the NPC CM. C.V.Vigneswaran.
He was speaking at the 45th sitting of the NPC at its Secretariat in Kaithady yesterday.
The problem of the lands of Kepapulavu was brought up and it was mentioned that the same amount of interest shown on un-released lands of Vallikamam is shown over such lands in Vanni during the discussion on a resolution by member Raviharan regarding the release of lands at Kepapulavu which are under the army. The CM was called upon to take a solid decision and write a comprehensive letter to the President and the Prime Minister.
6 years have passed after the end of the war and number of army should have been reduced in stages. But the number still remains at a level, as if the war is still on. We insisted with the UNHRC Commissioner regarding the necessity to reduce the Army. We have given all particulars of the lands under the control of the forces to the Commissioner and we hope he will provide us with a good answer, said the CM.
