I have no authority to intervene in the TPPs’ Affairs: Minister Swaminathan washes his hands away

The demands of the Tamil Political Prisoners (TPPs) engaged in fasting protest are justifiable but, I do not have authority for intervening in their affairs said the Minister of resettlement, Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms, D.M.Swamynathan.

Three TPPs in Anuradhapura Prison are engaged in  Fasting Protest for the 4th day today. Media men yesterday raised questions regarding action taken against the demands of the 3 TPPs in Fasting Protest. The Minister said as above in reply to them.

Action should taken by the Ministry of Justice, relevant to case. I have already informed the Minister about this. Their actions are  delayed. I cannot solve the problem of these TPPs, only Ministry of Justice could find a solution, he further said. It is notable that the case of the fasting TPPs will be taken up for hearing today and an important decision may be taken by the inquiring Judge.
