India for genuine reconciliation, harmony in SL: Modi to Ranil
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that India will work with Sri Lankan new government in its efforts for genuine reconciliation and harmony in the island. He states so in his message to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe congratulating on his being appointed Prime Minister. His message reads as follows:
“I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations on your appointment as the prime minister of Sri Lanka.
The rich experience you will bring to bear in discharging the responsibilities of this august office will be invaluable in guiding the destiny of Sri Lanka at this crucial juncture. The people of Sri Lanka have reposed their faith in new government, and I wish you all success in working towards peace, prosperity and development of Sri Lanka and bringing about genuine reconciliation and harmony amongst all Sri Lankans.
We warmly recall the efforts made by you during your tenures as prime minister of Sri Lanka to strengthen relations between our two countries. I strongly believe that the futures to work with your Excellency to bring our two countries even closer, particularly through the deepening of our economic engagement. Please accept, Excellency, my best wishes for your new term in office and the continued progress of the friendly people of Sri Lanka.”
