Indian Consulate officer intervening in Media Freedom: Saravanapavan MP

A distressing situation has been created in Jaffna, where, the Officers of the Indian Consulate are intervening into the Media freedom, accused TNA MP, Saravanapavan. The Indian Consulate is operating in worse ways. They acting to make sure that, nothing is published against India in the local newspapers. They are threatening people who go to their consulate as to why they are writing in Uthayan (incidentally saravanapavan is the proprietor of Uthayan). They have spoiled the opportunity of a person to complete his studies in India, just because he is a contributor to Uthayan.

They, through their such activities are intervening in the media freedom. This could not be tolerated, he said. We are not hasting India but object such activities. India has to play a constructive role in the solution process. Such activities of the officers of the Indian Consulate will make the Tamils here to hate and oppose India.

He was speaking in an event organized to commemorate the Udayan media men murdered in 2006. The Leader of the House, C.V.K.Sivagnanam participated as the Chief Guest.
