Intrigues for robbing Economic Centre brought to light : CM

Those who were pretending to give an Economic Centre to North, are hatching an intrigue to take the Economic Centre to Medawachchi , said the CM, C.V.Wigneswaran. He also pointed out that the covert activities are being undertaken to rob,  projects already granted to Tamil people and the projects to be granted.

He was delivering his Chief Guest’s address at the opening ceremony of Raja Plaza 15-house scheme at Mascon Road, Navakkiri.

Elaborating further he said, ” When I happened to participate in a Meeting held with Ministers and other CMs last Monday, an intrigue against Northern Province came to light. The Minister of Rural Economy stated that as there is no stable stance regarding the location for the Economic Centre, it is better to move it to Medewachchiya.

As per experts opinion I recommended Omanthai as the location for Economic Centre. But in a Coordination Committee where I did not participate, Rishad Badi-ud-deen was instrumental in making a decision to be taken to move the centre to Thandikulam.

Minister of rural Economy insisted to give a land in Vavuniya Town, I proposed a land behind SLTB bus stand. They objected that this land had been leased to a firm on Minister Rishad’s request. I submitted the required documents to show that lease had not been effected. There upon  Rishad adamantly insisted to move the Centre to Thandikulam. He is not concerned  about the impacts on Agricultural School, Agricultural Lands and Agricultural activities.

Hence, I wish to take this opportunity to reveal that covert activities are undertaken to rob projects that should be given to the Tamil people or which have possibility of being granted to them.”, he said.
