The Indian Peace Keeping Force beat my father to death right within this land. Before that sorrow had subsided, the SL Army had robbed our land, said Cassimbawa Farsana who had lost her land to Army at Navalady junction, in Karalaipattu DS division in Batticaloa.
She is one of the persons from 16 families who had undertaken a Sathyagraha struggle in front of the Army Camp , which is located on the lands of the these people, in tents, pitched in front of the Army camp and along Colombo – Batticaloa main road demanding the release of their lands.
Elaborating further Farsana said, my parents and I were living in this land. When I was young, the Indian Peace Keeping Force which engaged in war here, had beaten my father to death. We have not recovered from that sorrow yet. The Sri Lanka Army had driven all residents on these lands and established their camp here.
In the context of passing away of my father, I have lost my land, house and had been rendered a refugee wandering for my existence. Wherever I relate my tribulations nobody is giving a kind ear to me and take any action, she said.
The other people said they were driven away from the lands on which they were living from 1968 and that they have all the document to support their claim.
