Is the burning of Koolamurippu forest a deliberate act? Raviharan demands immediate inquiry
Immediate inquiry should held on the burning down of a part of Koolamurippu Forest which has been planned to be colonised. It is not seemed to a natural occurrence. It is strongly suspected that this has been done deliberately, the MPc, T.Ravihran has said.
He had said this in a media release issued yesterday.
It is a known fact that an attempt is made to deforest a jungle area of Koolamurippu. Heavy arguments took place in the Mullai District Coordinating committee meeting held on the 10th regarding this. Youth of the district had staged a protest Rally against illegal deforestation and colonising. In this context, consumption by fire of a part of the Koolamurippu jungles raises more questions. This had to be viewed as a preceding action of making large spaces for colonization.
Nobody objects giving landless Tamils and Muslim people. We object giving lands for settling only for Muslim people. A Minister from Vanni is taking deliberate action to create a rift and racism between Tamil and Muslim communities who are living peacefully.
In this context the burning down of the forest cannot be considered as a normal occurrence. The District Administration should conduct an impartial inquiry and bring to book whoever is responsible for this burning, he had said.
