It is very strange that Dinesh describing Federalism as separatism, says the CM, NPC

The Chief Minister of the Northern Province, C.V.Wigneswaran said that it is very strange that educated people like Dinesh Gunawardene describing Federalism as separatism. He also said that in a context where his father, Late Philip Gunawardena accepting it as a correct solution, Dinesh is describing it as Separatism. Commenting on the solution proposals of the NPC, Dinesh had said that, the NPC CM should remember what happened to Varatharajaperumal. The CM while counter commenting on his statement had said as above.

Elaborating further the CM said that, Dinesh is also an educated man like his illustrious father. We respect him because of this.

While I was studying at the Colombo Royal College, Late Philip Gunawardene was invited to deliver speech at the college. Norm

ally leftists are not invited to our college. But I invited him to the college. During the question time, one student asked him whether Federalism a wrong policy. The late leftist leader said that, even the Prime Minister had said that it is a correct solution and how could it be a wrong solution. But his son himself is now describing it as Separatism.

He had said that what had happened to Varatharajaperumal will happen to me. Perumal declared Northern and Eastern Provinces as separate unit. We are asking for a Federal solution. Federal system is a solution for the people who are living within a country, could live preserving their identities without dividing the country. Particularly, the Indian states are living as federal states on the basis of their languages. Scotland and Quebec states had rejected separation and living along with England and Canada respectively as federal states.

he had also said the NPC had submitted the proposal while the TNA is there. We have submitted the proposals with the consultation of our leadership, but every citizen has the right to submit his proposal. He had also said that the NPC is to declare separation in May. These kinds of talk are always made.  Whenever a solution favourable to Minorities is in the offing, the opposition always picture Tamils as separatists and fulfill their interests. This is exactly what the joint opposition is trying to do.  1983 riots were the direct consequence of talks like this.

Please stop earning your self-profits picturing Tamils as Separatists, he said.
