Kilinochchi lashed with highest rainfall in Sri Lanka: 8,000 affected by floods

Within the 24 hours ending at 0830hrs, the highest rainfall in Sri Lanka had been recorded in Kilinochchi said the Met Department. 106.3 mm. Rain had been recorded in Kilinochchi. For the third time 163 persons belonging to 50 families were displaced and housed in schools.

As per the statistics of the Kilinochchi District Secretariat, 7572 persons belonging to 2451 families were affected by the Heavy Rains experienced by Kilinochchi District. The breakdown is as follows:
