Madhu Church area declared Sacred Area

A suggestion to declare the area in which Madhu Church is located in Mannar District and developing it has been approved by the Cabinet.

Madhu, revered by Catholics as a worship spot is also equally revered by Hindu and Buddhist people.

Various monthly festivals are celebrated there,  in nearly all months . Accommodations are available, but most of the devotees prefer temporary open air accommodation, a sort of “ Festival of Tabernacles”.

It is notable that local and foreign devotees visit the shrine of Mother Mary all around the year. The serenity around the shrine is very soothing to troubled hearts.

A cabinet paper was submitted by the president yesterday, with the cabinet approving it.
