Maulaitheevu Court orders to put up fences and allow for Local Tamil Fishermen’s use

In a case which was dragging on due to the Occupation Migratory Sinhalese Fishermen, the court has ordered that  150 meter area be fenced off and Local Tamil Fishermen allowed to use it.

Local fishermen’s Society has been allowed to construct a pier and that no hindrance shall be constituted for undertaking fishing including ‘Karai Valai'(Beach sein net)

The dispute created by the Sinhalese Fishermen and Department of Fisheries and Aqua resources over fishing pier of the local Tamil Fishermen had been brought to an end by the Mulaitheevu District Court. Whenever the Padus are distributed in the future, local fishermen had to be given first, the court had further ordered.

Senior AAL, Anton Punithanayagam appeared for the local Fishermen assisted by AALs, Aniththa, Haris, Nirojini, Kaneswaran, Jameel, Mrs. Vithuran, and Sutharsan. Officer Senthan appeared on behalf of District Secretariat, while Kunalan appeared for Survey department and Kanistan, Mohankumar for Fisheries Department.
