Maveeran Pandaravanniyan Day celebrated in Vavuniya today
Pandaravanniyan fought the Dutch with much valor. His 215th commemoration is to be held in Vavuniya today from 8.00 a.m. , presided by the Chairman of Vavuniya Town Council Desabandu E.Kowthaman.
The celebration will commence with the garlanding of the Pandaravanniyan statue located near the Vavuniya District Secretariat. Thamilmany Ahalangan will deliver a memorial speech near the statue of Pandaravanniyan.
Indoor events will commence at the Vavuniya Cultural Hall, with hoisting of flag, singing of flag anthem and lighting Ceremonial Lamp.
Following a welcome dance by the students of Teacher Sujitha Sittampalam , the Chairman E.Kowthaman will deliver the Welcome address.
President’s Counsel M.Sittampalam will participate as the Chief Guest. Communication Specialist Aruna Sellaththurai will deliver Pandaravanniyan Memorial Oration. A Special Address will be delivered by Thamizharuvi T.Sivakumaran. Vavuniya Art Communication Centre will present a Poetical Tribute.
A stage performance called Pantri Pallu will be performed by the students of the Vavuniya Kovilkulam Akilandewari Fine Arts College.
Secretary of the Town Council E. Thayaparan will propose the vote of thanks.
Ministers, Deputy Ministers, MPs, Members of Provincial Council, members of Local Government bodies, Government Agent, Divisional Secretary, Heads of Local Departments, and members of the Public Organizations are expected to participate in this event.
