Mulaitheevu Court delivers judgment: Kepapulavu people can continue the struggle for their lands
Mulaitheevu Court has delivered judgment that the Kepapulavu people could continue their struggle for the release of their lands without hindering the public.
The Nuisance case filed by the Muliyawalai Police on the Kepapulavu people that they are hindering the public was taken up in the Mullaitheevu Courts yesterday and the above order was delivered there.
The struggle the Kepapulavu took up to get their lands released entered its 349th day yesterday. Out of the the lands seized by the Army after the end of the war, a total of 133.4 acres were handed over to the District Secretary 28th December, last year with 111.5 acres in Kepapulavu and 21.84 acre in Seeniyamoddai had been released. 181 acre belonging to 104 families has not been released yet.
Several Mulaitheevu AAL along with AAL V.Manivannan and Paramsothy. Appeared for the 5 strugglers who had been charged with causing unrest.
The police also filed a case at the outset of the struggle, when the courts delivered a similar order.
