Mullikulam people commence an attention drawing protest demanding the Navy to go out of their Lands

The people of Mullikulam held an attention drawing protest from yesterday demanding that their village occupied by the Navy and has been converted into training camp. Hundreds of men and women commenced their protest in front of the main gate of the Mullikkulam Navy Camp.

In a context where struggles are being already undertaken in Kilinochchi and Mulaitheevu and now Mannar joins their ranks.

We, the people of Mullikkulam were expelled from our village by force by the Navy. Even after 10 years we living in pathetic conditions with no intimation regarding release of our lands from the Government .

245 families are living at Maqlangadu and Kayakkuli and some other families are living with their relatives.

Although the Police, Navy and the Musali Divisional Secretary tried to remove the people from there, people did not budge. They have bowed that their struggle will change to fasting protest if suitable solution is not given to them.
