Navaly St. Peters Massacre   commemorated

The 21st annual commemoration was held yesterday at 6.45 a.m.  presided by the Navaly Parish Priest, Roy Ferdinand.

While the people displaced from Vallikamam, during the Military Operation “Leap Forward” on 9th July 1995 were staying in Navaly, St. Peter’s Church, the Government Air Force made a bombing a attack  on them.

147 innocent Tamils including aged , children, students and women were killed on the spot. A commemoration service was held among the relatives of the victims by the parish priest of Navaly St.Peter’s Church.

Candles were lighted at around 5.30 p.m. at the memorial at Pulavar Road, Navaly North, for the killed. Memorial Flame were lighted at the memorial erected in the church premise, at 6.00 p.m. by the relatives.
