New Commission to hoodwink  the international community: Sumanthiran

The creation of the new commission is a ploy to deceive the international community. We can go a long way if we implement the recommendations of the Reconciliation Commission.  said Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian MA Sumanthiran.

The political committee meeting of the TNA  was held at the party office in Vavuniya on Saturday. He was speaking to the media after the meeting.

It is  a good thing that the Tamil National Parties have sent our demands to all 47 member states .  The new government has formed an expert panel. We have also sent our ideas for it. It is meaningless to create a new political system without a solution to the Tamil national problem. We have made it clear that. We have reminded that many blueprints for resolving the Tamil national question have been made over and over again. The committee has arranged to meet with us on the 20th of this month. We will tell them about our position when we meet directly.

There will be no benefit from the new commission currently being created. We have already said that it is a ridiculous thing. It is a ploy to deceive the international community. We can go a long way if we implement the recommendations of the Reconciliation Commission. There is no need for another commission to examine them. We hope that the Human Rights Council will reject this outright.

We have been consistently ignoring Sri Lanka’s Independence Day. We also attended when the last government showed some  gestures. However, that government had forgotten the promises it had made to us. So we will continue to ignore Independence Day. He said.
