No chance of reducing Army from Jaffna : Commander SF- Jaffna, Maj. Gen. Mahes Senanayake
The opportunity for reducing the number of Army Soldiers stationed in Jaffna Peninsula. On the contrary, we are gradually handing over the lands of people which are under the control of the Army, the Commander of the SF-Jaffna, major General Mahes Senanayake, had said. He was answering media personal when he said this.
“We are reducing the number of Camps not the number of soldiers. The opportunity for reducing the number of Army Soldiers stationed in Jaffna Peninsula. The reason for this is that a violent group called “Aava” raised its head recently and if such groups are a threat to National Security, they have to be brought under control.
Meanwhile, there are rehabilitated former members of LTTE. We have identified more than 300 former members of the LTTE who are living in the peninsula without undergoing Rehabilitation. We know former LTTE members having links with Diaspora Tamils.We have the duty to see that they do not engage in Terrorist activities, he said.
