No permit for Liquor in the East anymore, says the Eastern CM, Naseer

The Chief Minister of Eastern Province, Naseer Ahmed announced yesterday that no permits will be given in the future for establishing Liquor factories and liquor sales points.

He was answering the questions of the media regarding the controversy that had arisen regarding the Liquor factory that is being constructed in Valaichenai at a cost of 4,500 million.

The Eastern Provincial Council which is being run on the cooperation of Tamil, Muslim and Sinhala people will do only good deeds.  We are not going to allow any degenerating cultures to ruin the unique and traditional culture of the three races.

When several thousands were struggling for employment, it is no use building liquor factories at costs of 4,500 Million. We could build other industrial establishment which will safeguard our cultures, he said.
