No remedy so far for Thileepan’s sacrifice: says Leader of the Opposition Era Sampanthan
No remedy has been found so far for the sacrifice of ‘Thiyaga Theepam’ (Sacrificial Flame) Thileepan, who sowed the fire of Liberation among the Tamil people, said the Leader of the Tamil National Alliance and the Leader of the Opposition, and the Leader of the ITAK’s Politburo, Era Sampanthan.
The Meeting of the Politburo of ITAK was held yesterday in the Jeya Hall in the Kalmunai Rest House in Amparai and Thileepan’s Commemoration was held as a part of the said meeting.
The TNA Leader garlanded the Photograph of Thileepan and lighted the memorial flame. Then the Leader of ITAK Mawai Senathyrasa and a former MP of Batticaloa District, Pon Selvarajah garlanded and lighted memorial lamps.
The meeting was presided by former MP, P. Ariyanendran. Speaking there further, the Leader of the Opposition Era Sampanthan said, Sacrifices are great. In that way, Thileepans’s Sacrifice is the ultimate. Thileepan embraced a hero’s death fighting a 12 days struggle without even water against the IPKF which occupied the Tamil Home Land. We are proud in commemorating Thileepan publicly in our Politburo meeting, he said.
Blood donation campaign in Jaffna in memory of Thileepan
The Students of the Jaffna Hindu College held a blood Donation Campaign in memory of of ‘Thiyaga Theepam” Thileepan. More than 100 students donated blood during this campaign. It is notable that Thileepan is an old boy of Jaffna Hindu College.
