Northern Fishermen bow not to allow President into North if Indian Fishermen come into Sri Lankan waters

The Northern Fishermen have put out a strong warning that if the Central government allow the Indian fishermen into Sri Lankan waters, they will not allow anyone from the Central Government including the President to come into the North.

They said this during a demonstration in front of the  Northern Provincial council on Tuesday. In a context where India had asked to allow Indian fishermen into Sri Lankan waters for 2 days a week and the Ministers of Defence and Fisheries stating that they are considering the Indian request, the Northern fishermen undertook the above protest.

Already the Indian and southern Fishermen had devastated our Livelihood. We are on the brink of giving up fishing, and if the Indian request is granted, that will altogether devastate our lives , they said.

If, the Indian fishermen are allowed to come in, we will not allow anyone from the Central Government, including the President, they bowed.
